If we are using any of the open sources CMS like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal etc, or any custom php scripts, uses .htaccess for many reasons.
If you have installed wordpress in your Wampserver and want to change your permalinks options instead of the default will not work unless and until you enable or provide access to .htaccess file in your site or project folder.
This is one on the simplest task what I believe, to do just click on Wampserver icon in your taskbar under Apache menu click on httpd.conf file. See the below screenshot.

Once the file is opened search for #LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so
Once you find just remove the # sign before the LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so and save the file and Restart all Services.
Wampserver Restart All Services
With this you have successfully enabled and provide access to .htaccess file. Now you can be change permalinks options or any options. Happy Browsing…

Nice tutorial, customizing .htaccess file is necessary to enable permalinks. However it was giving me some problem as I was not able to create .htaccess file on my server, so I decided to have my permalinks in this fashion ….index.php/post-title.
